Archbishop Wood High School Robotics was founded as an extracurricular activity for students and adults in November 2006. The program is many faceted and draws in not only the “techies” and science buffs but also the athletes, artists, and business entrepreneurs. Since it’s founding, the team has soared to local, state-wide, and world-wide recognition. The team participates in local and state competitions during its regular competition season from January through April, as well as off-season competitions from June through November.

Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against field of competitors.

There are many different areas of the team to participate or mentor:

  • Field
  • Scouting/Strategy
  • Drive
  • Programming
  • Controls & Sensors
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Marketing
  • Spirit
